Technical Support (Research Engineer): Data Integration & Platform Ops (SnT × Eurosender)

Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Why this role matters

Eurosender and the University of Luxembourg are joining forces on an RDI project to design the next generation of intermodal booking systems — integrating rail and road transport into a single platform that optimizes cost, speed, and environmental impact. In this role as a Technical Support (Research Engineer), you’ll be embedded in Eurosender’s IT team, focusing primarily on building and supporting production-ready systems while also contributing to applied research. You’ll ensure that research results are effectively translated into scalable, real-world solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Collect, validate, and integrate multimodal logistics data.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and storage solutions for large-scale datasets.
  • Implement APIs to connect optimization models with the booking engine and dashboard.
  • Support experiments and benchmarks of optimization and ML models.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues across data flows and integrations.
  • Act as a technical bridge between research outputs and operational systems, ensuring smooth integration and long-term usability.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems.
  • Minimum of 2 years of industry experience in software development.
  • Solid experience with PHP (Symfony framework) and React (Next.js framework).
  • Experience building and supporting data pipelines, APIs, and working in cloud/Linux environments.
  • Strong initiative and ability to collaborate across research and IT teams.
  • Fluent in English—other languages are a plus.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of transport/logistics data and geospatial systems.
  • Experience with optimization software or ML pipelines.
  • Familiarity with dashboards or visualization tools.

What we offer

  • Opportunity to contribute to a high-impact European RDI project.
  • Work at the interface between academic research and industry application.
  • Access to the University of Luxembourg’s resources and a multicultural working environment.
