Technical Support (Research Engineer): Data Integration & Platform Ops (SnT × Eurosender)
Luxembourg,
Luxembourg
Why this role matters
Eurosender and SnT are joining forces on a RDI project to design the next generation of intermodal booking systems — integrating rail and road transport into a single platform that optimizes cost, speed, and environmental impact. As Technical Support (Research Engineer), you will play a key role in making this possible: setting up the data foundations and technical integrations that connect research outputs to a working booking system. You will manage and structure multimodal transport datasets, build the interfaces that feed optimization algorithms, and ensure the system runs reliably for large-scale logistics scenarios.
Your responsibilities
- Collect, validate, and integrate multimodal logistics data.
- Build and maintain data pipelines and storage solutions for large-scale datasets.
- Implement APIs to connect optimization models with the booking engine and dashboard.
- Support experiments and benchmarks of optimization and ML models.
-
Troubleshoot technical issues across data flows and integrations.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Systems.
-
Experience with programming languages commonly used in optimization and data science (e.g., Python, Julia, Java, or C++).
- Familiarity with data pipelines, cloud environments, and Linux systems.
-
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; fluent in English.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of transport/logistics data and geospatial systems.
- Experience with optimization software or ML pipelines.
-
Familiarity with dashboards or visualization tools.
What we offer
- Opportunity to contribute to a high-impact European RDI project.
- Work at the interface between academic research and industry application.
-
Access to the University of Luxembourg’s resources and a multicultural working environment.
